Main Menu Bar

The software is an add-in within Microsoft Excel. When you open Microsoft Excel, you should see the software on the main menu bar. Click on the Sigma Magic button to load the software into memory. This will open the Sigma Magic menus as shown in the figure below:



The menu bar contains the following sections:
  1. Project: This contains the buttons related to opening, closing and exporting the project files.
    1. New: Create a new project. It will add the Data Sheet and Summary Sheet to your current Excel workbook.
    2. Open: Open an existing project. Browse and select the project from your folders. Note that a project is a standard Excel file that contains data and analysis created by the Sigma Magic software. It is a standard Microsoft Excel file with extension xlsx.
    3. Examples: Open an Example file which contains specific examples - for example a capability analysis example. This will go to the Examples folder and list all the files in that folder. Each example file contains data and analysis. Select the analysis sheet to view the settings used for the analysis and the analysis results.
    4. Details: You can add the details of the project that this Excel file contains. Project details include items like the Project Title, Start and End Dates, Team Members, Methodology used etc.
    5. Data: Open the Data worksheet which contains the data used in the analysis. Note that all data must be in Excel Tables (with a header row of column names) for you to be able to analyze the data using Sigma Magic software.
    6. Summary: This will open a Summary worksheet which contains the list of all the analysis that have been conducted for this project. 
    7. Print: Create a PDF file of all the analysis you have completed on this project. You can either print this file or share it with others.
    8. Export: Export the Microsoft Excel file into a PowerPoint presentation that you can share with others.
    9. Close: Click on this button to save and close the currently active workbook.
  2. Miscellaneous: This contains generic set of buttons related to the Sigma Magic software. 
    1. About: This button lists the current version of the software. You can also use this button to check if any updates are available.
    2. License: You can view the status of your license, update the license key, and activate and deactivate the license.
    3. Options: You can specify generic options for the software that apply to all analysis. Such as specifying the Confidence Levels, etc.
    4. Help: Open the support page for this software. You will need to create an account to view this page. It contains any open tickets that you have created for this software. You can also view the Knowledge Base articles related to this software.
    5. E-Learning: Contains some e-learning modules for the Sigma Magic software. It contains presentations and videos related to the Sigma Magic software.
    6. Feedback: You can use this button to provide a rating and feedback on the software back to the developers.
  3. Analysis: You can use these buttons to work on the specific analysis or worksheet that you have activated.
    1. Tool Wizard: You can click on the Tool Wizard to select and add a new template to your project. For example, you can add a worksheet to perform Normality testing. Each analysis you want to perform is added as a new worksheet in your project.
    2. Analysis Setup: This contains the setting you want to use to perform the analysis. Your settings are saved with the worksheet, and you can use this button to view the settings for that analysis. You can update the settings and rerun the analysis at any time. If you share your Sigma Magic project file with other users, they can view your settings as well.
    3. Compute Outputs: You can use this button to regenerate analysis results. Note that you need to have a valid License for updating the analysis results. If you have made any changes to the data or settings, you can click on this button to update analysis results. It will regenerate any session window outputs and graphical results on this worksheet.
    4. Rename: You can rename the worksheet tab or the one-line description of the analysis using this button.
    5. Duplicate: You can duplicate the existing worksheet and perform what-if analysis. This button will copy all the analysis settings to a new worksheet, allowing you to make minor changes and rerun the analysis.
    6. Delete: You can delete any worksheet or analysis you no longer require from your project using this button.
Just so you know, additional menu bar icons may appear depending on the analysis you have selected. For example, if you are working with Control Charts, you may get additional menu icons as shown in the figure below. Click on the refresh button at the bottom right corner of the menus to refresh the menu bar if you don't see these menus.

If you are working with macro-enabled files, then you may not need to click on the Refresh button to update the main menu bar, as information about which worksheet is currently active is automatically extracted from your workbook.
