Lean maturity example

Problem Statement

Select an organization or division/department and perform an assessment of their lean maturity.

How to perform analysis

Step 1: Open Sigma Magic
  1. Click on the Sigma Magic button on the Excel toolbar.
  2. Click on the New button to create a new project.
Step 2: Add the analysis template
  1. Click on the Tool Wizard to add the analysis template.
  2. Click on Lean and then Lean Maturity.


Step 3: Specify analysis options
Click on Analysis Setup and specify the chart type.



Click Create button to update the analysis worksheet. Enter all the details and provide overall score.



Click on the Analysis Setup button and then click on Checklist tab, all items on the checklist should be checked and marked as completed.



If you need to make changes to the charts, specify the optional settings in the Charts tab.

 Labels:

  • Add a title for the chart.
  • Label the X-axis and Y-axis appropriately.

Appearance:

  • Adjust colors, font sizes, or other visual elements as needed.
  • Enable/disable gridlines or background shading.




Step 4: Generate analysis results
Finally, click the Verify tab to ensure all the inputs are okay and shown in a green checkmark.


Click on OK button to generate analysis results.

Interpreting results

The following conclusion can be drawn from this analysis.
  1. Overall Average Score: The average score is 58.6% or 6/10 per element, which reflects moderate Lean Maturity but has plenty of scope for improvement.
  2. Strong Areas:
    1. Standardized tasks and processes (element 6) scored high, showcasing consistency in foundational activities.
    2. Technology use thoroughly tested (element 9) and teamwork emphasis (element 11) were also done properly.
