How to perform Analysis

Step 1: Open Sigma Magic
  1. Click on the Sigma Magic button on the Excel toolbar.
  2. Click on the New button to create a new project.
Step 2: Add the analysis template
  1. Click on the Tool Wizard to add the analysis template.
  2. Click on Lean and then OEE Metric.


Step 3: Specify analysis options
Click on Analysis Setup and specify the area name, equipment name, report frequency, num rows, target OEE and highlight OEE.



Click Create, the worksheet will created. And enter the details.



If you need to make changes to the charts, specify the optional settings in the Charts tab.

 Labels:

  • Add a title for the chart.
  • Label the X-axis and Y-axis appropriately.

Appearance:

  • Adjust colors, font sizes, or other visual elements as needed.
  • Enable/disable gridlines or background shading.


Step 4: Generate analysis results
Finally, click the Verify tab to ensure all the inputs are okay and shown in a green checkmark.



Click OK to close the dialog box.

Interpreting Results

  1. Best Date: 01-01-2024 (OEE: 90%) - High availability, performance, and quality.
  2. Worst Date: 03-01-2024 (OEE: 62%) - Due to low availability (68%) and quality (72%).
  3. Key Problems:
    1. High down time on 03-01-2024 affects availability.
    2. Quality drop severely on 03-01-2024, defective units are produced.
  4. Suggestions:
  1. Reduce the down time through better maintenance.
  2. Quality problems - operator training and raw material checking.
  3. Target constant OEE value of 85% or higher.
