A3 Report Example

Problem Statement 

Create an A3 report on current training effectiveness.

How to perform Analysis

Step 1: Open Sigma Magic
  1. Click on the Sigma Magic button on the Excel toolbar.
  2. Click on the New button to create a new project.
Step 2: Add the analysis template
  1. Click on the Tool Wizard to add the analysis template.
  2. Click on Lean and then A3 Report.


Step 3: Specify analysis options
A new worksheet will be added to your workbook. Analysis Setup will be automatically opened, in the setup tab specify the following details.



If you click on the Checklist button, you will see the following dialog box. Ensure that the items mentioned in checklist should be marked.



Click on Verify tab to ensure all the inputs are okay and shown in a green checkmark.



Step 4: Generate analysis results
Finally, click on Create and then Compute Outputs to see the overall result.




Interpreting Results

  1. The organization has made notable progress in improving training application rates from 32% to 68%.
  2. The current gap of 22% (from the target of 90%) requires additional effort, particularly in deploying robust processes and identifying further root causes of non-application.
  3. The countermeasures and implementation plan are well-structured, but follow-up and monitoring are essential to ensure the desired outcomes are achieved.
  4. These will be successful only if the audits are regular, the content of training is realigned, and application is reinforced post-training.
